Abstract
Pathogenic bacteria invade their hosts through a variety of mechanisms. For certain pathogens, including those of veterinary importance, initiation of infection and disease progression is modulated by a process called quorum sensing (QS)1. QS involves the production, secretion and detection of diffusible signaling molecules or autoinducers in a cell density-dependent manner.
